The Matriarch Method is the philosophy that underpins everything we do at Matriarch.

We're often asked, 'Why are you called Matriarch?' Well, the principles of Matriarchy are threaded through everything we do to develop more empathy and emotional intelligence in people.

Our method draws on the principles of Matriarchy not as a human philosophy. Our four guiding values are:

Nurturing → Wisdom → Collectivity → Grounded power

Nurturing

Traditionally seen as a 'motherly' value, nurturing is a role we can all play. It's about nurturing ourselves, others, and the systems we’re part of. This is where emotional intelligence survives: in empathy and the courage to care even when the world tells you not to.

How we do it:

We build emotionally intelligent classrooms, workplaces and communities where people feel seen, supported and able to navigate the tough moments.

Wisdom

This is tapping into understanding, not just knowing.

Wisdom means helping people connect their experience, emotion, and action to make sense of the world around them and make more informed decisions.

How we do it:

We help people develop their confidence and self-awareness so they can tap into and trust their wisdom.

Collectivity.

There’s room for everyone. This is a principle we live and breathe.

We're immersed in a hierarchical, competitive culture, and it's ruining us. Collectivity is the idea that there's room for everyone to win. How can we support each other, rather than focus on winning?

How we do it:

We encourage group learning and promote an empathetic skillset through all our work, whether that's how to listen to someone or speak up for yourself.

Grounded Power

Confidence can be calm and kind, not brash.

We encourage people to find their integrity and use it responsibly. Grounded power means knowing who you are, setting boundaries, and developing your self-awareness.

How we do it:

We help people build their confidence in themselves, others and what life has to offer.
