Ria's business update from the last 3 months. Happy reading!
It’s been a few months since our last business update so here’s the rundown…
Far-right riots & aptly timed workshops
August was a heavy time for many Brits and we felt it on the team too. It was a stark reminder of the belief systems that still exist in the world but the overriding feeling was that it proved exactly why Matriarch exists - so we can embed more understanding, access to education and compassion in our culture.
We offered free DEI soundboarding chats, you can still book one in here and we began roadmapping free offerings for schools. More to come on that.
We also worked with FTI Consulting again that same week. We’d planned a celebratory workshop for South Asian Heritage Month for their RISE Network (Race, Identity, Social Equity). In the context of the riots, we evolved the content with the team to turn it into an opportunity for people to soundboard, vent and find comfort in community. We also embedded some self-advocacy and empowerment tools, along with skills to protect your mental health as a person of colour. Personally, it was an incredibly healing session we were proud to provide.
‘I found that I'm not alone in certain feelings I've had in the last week and empowered to have more impact conversations on these topics.’ (FTI participant)
- that's the impact we love to see.
New product offerings!
Expanding our product offering has been at the top of our minds since our recollection in January. We’re always wanting to lead and teach through lived experience so it was clear the topics to branch into were Mental Health and Grief.
Evie Wynne, our Mental Health Lead has been developing content on self-compassion, shame and other mental health topics which we’re excited to start providing for schools and businesses.
Talking colonialism in the workplace with Redington
In October, we ran our ‘Putting the Then in the Now’ session for Redington, B Corp-certified investment consultancy. We dove into conversations around Empire and how it informs our everyday. Thank you to the team at Redington, it was a pleasure to work together.
What did Redington employees think?
‘Amazing - very engaging and eye opening and very happy to have attended.’

Team updates
It has been a pleasure to onboard and evolve some of our team roles.
Olivia Threlfall - Events & Client Relations Manager
Olly joined us as a summer intern this year and was a major contributing factor to our fabulous 5th anniversary party in August. We were so glad that Olly decided to stay on and step up to ECRM, working closely with our school clients.
Ananya Agrawal - Finance Intern
Joining as a finance intern over the summer, Ananya has also stuck with us and has provided structure and clarity on our numbers. Ananya has brought so much knowledge and grace which in turn has provided confidence for the team.
Lauren Bulla - Creative Designer
Lauren embodied Matriarch spirit from the off and we have been delighted she chose to join the team. Lauren’s creative expertise and chameleon talents will bring a new energy to Matriarch.Â
Susanna Seeley - Events & Content Lead
Susanna also has been a contributor at Matriarch for a while but took the initiative to step up and ask for more involvement. We’re excited to see Susanna smash events and content as we step into a new chapter for Matriarch… more to come.
Jana Tobin - Chief Operations Director
Previously Ops Director, this new title appropriately communicates the uncontested work that Jana has relentlessly put into this business. We would not be 70% of what we are now without her.
Here’s to a busy end of the year!
Love & light,
R x
